The Daily Record selected William F. Regine, MD, FACR, FACRO, the Isadore and Fannie Schneider Foxman Chair and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the Executive Director of MPTC, to receive a 2019 Health Care Hero Award.
As home to several renowned medical and federal institutions, Maryland is a national leader in health care research and development. The Daily Record’s Health Care Heroes Awards honor those organizations and individuals who have made an impact on the quality of health care within our state. The winners were selected by The Daily Record and business and health care leaders.
Dr. Regine earned the Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor that recognizes individuals in the health care community whose body of work in their careers makes them stand out from their peers.
“I met Dr. Regine nearly fifteen years ago when he joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine to become chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology. I was immediately impressed with his high level of dedication to patients and the sincere feeling of caring and empathy that he brings to the treatment of those with cancer,” said Harry C. Knipp, M.D., FACR FACHT, a member of the MPTC Board of Managers, in his recommendation letter for Dr. Regine. “He commits all of his attention to making patients feel confident and comfortable while empowering his team to carry out their complex treatment plans.”
The 2019 Health Care Heroes Awards will be presented June 27 at a breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel Baltimore Downtown-Inner Harbor, 101 West Fayette Street in Baltimore.
